Schlafly Beer and Beantown-based Harpoon Brewery struck a good-natured wager during the race for the Stanley Cup. With the Blues emerging victorious over the Bruins, Harpoon employees found themselves slinging Schlafly Pale Ale while wearing Blues jerseys at their home brewery in early July. And just to show there were no hard feelings, Arnold’s Lobster & Clam Bar on Cape Cod donated a super-rare blue lobster (pictured at top) to the soon-to-open St. Louis Aquarium in honor of our team’s big win. The restaurant owners received the crustacean, now named Lord Stanley, in a recent shipment and decided St. Louis should be its home.

The ever-evolving Saint Louis Zoo recently announced plans for Primate Canopy Trails, an $11.5 million, 35,000-square-foot outdoor expansion of the Primate House that currently is home to apes, lemurs and other species. The addition will provide greater access to sunlight, fresh air, climbing structures and other features they would experience in the wild. Visitors will be able to stroll across an elevated boardwalk and through a clear acrylic tunnel to see the animals at play.

There are 10 stories, from Osage Indian traders and early French settlers to the city’s role in the civil rights movement; more will be added in the future. The free service is intended for tourists and residents alike. A Kickstarter campaign is raising funds for artists who contributed to the project, which is produced by Sonic Stories.
