Creve Coeur began as one of many small communities that popped along the centuries-old route that is now Olive Boulevard. As St. Louis County continued to grow after World War II, the push westward led to its incorporation in 1949. The former farming community has developed into a wonderful community that is home to thriving restaurants and businesses, picturesque parks and more.

Named in honor of: Meaning “heartbreak” in French, the name comes from the legend that Creve Coeur Lake is linked to a Native American princess’ unrequited love for a French fur trapper.

- Il Bel Lago: Founded by the same family behind Giovnni’s On the Hill, this spot is serving up classic Italian food in an elegant atmosphere.
- Nudo House: This is another restaurant with a familial connection to a local fave. Developed by Qui Tran (son of Mai Lee founder Lee Tran), the eatery’s menu features ramen along with pho, bahn mi and more.

- Birkenstock & More: Part of the Laurie’s Shoes family, this shop offers the largest selection of Birkenstock shoes and sandals in the Midwest.
- Genovese Jewelers: One of the largest jewelers in the country, the store has provided handcrafted jewelry, high-quality diamonds and other precious stones for more than 40 years.
- The Resale Shop: All proceeds from this shop benefit the community service and advocacy projects of the National Council of Jewish Women St. Louis.

- Conway Park: This park features a one-mile walking path that loops around an accent pond and wildflower and native planting areas. Additional features include a playground, picnic areas, two tennis courts and a dog park.
- Dr. H. Phillip Venable Memorial Park: Spanning seven and a half acres, the park features a half-mile paved trail, three tennis courts, a soccer field, two playgrounds and a picnic pavilion.
- Millenium Park: Sitting on 25 acres, the park includes two playgrounds, a seasonal splash pad, walking trails, soccer and baseball fields and a Little Free Library where people can take and leave books.
annual events
- Farmer’s Market: From May to October, the market offers fresh, regionally grown produce and other items, such as meats, eggs, honey, flowers and handmade artisan goods.
- Arbor Day Celebration: In recognition of Creve Coeur’s nickname “Tree City,” the celebration includes an art contest, a plant giveaway, educational displays, a nature walk and more.
