Find Your Sparkle: Elleard Heffern Fine Jewelers

From engagements and anniversaries to birthdays and other milestones, jewelry often adds some sparkle and brightness to some of life’s most meaningful moments. Elleard Heffern Fine Jewelers is a St. Louis institution. Founded in 1913 as Heffern-Neuhoff Jewelers, the family-owned business has been serving the community for more than a century. Today, under the leadership of third-generation president Kit Heffern, the business remains rooted in the values it has had since the beginning.

With its more than 100-year history, Elleard Heffern has deeply rooted connections in the region. “Our 113-year presence in the St. Louis community reflects the enduring trust our clients place in us,” Heffern notes. “While we have continued to evolve with the times, our commitment to integrity, expertise and a genuine passion for fine jewelry has never wavered. Being a family-owned business has allowed us to maintain that personal touch, while continuing to grow and introduce new designers and collections that keep the store feeling fresh and relevant.”

Clients can expect a personal, relaxed shopping experience. While purchasing fine jewelry can be a daunting prospect for many shoppers, Heffern notes that intimidation has never been Elleard Heffern’s approach. “We want clients to feel comfortable taking their time, asking questions and discovering pieces that truly resonate with them,” he says. “Many of our clients have been shopping with us for generations, and that continuity allows us to offer a level of service that feels truly tailored—whether someone is marking a milestone, redesigning a family heirloom or simply exploring something new and beautiful.”

Elleard Heffern offers a unique selection of thoughtfully curated jewelry. Along with pieces from acclaimed designers from around the world, clients can also shop estate pieces or work with the store to create a custom piece. The jeweler is dedicated to providing pieces that deliver a sense of individuality and artistry. “Our collection is thoughtfully curated—whether it’s designer jewelry or estate pieces—so there’s always something distinctive to discover,” Heffern notes. “It’s that combination of warmth and refinement that makes the experience feel a bit different.”

One designer Elleard Heffern is excited to spotlight is Elizabeth Locke, a recent addition to the store. “Elizabeth Locke designs are a natural fit for us because they reflect many of the qualities we value—timelessness, craftsmanship and a distinctive point of view,” Heffern explains. “Her work has classical influences with rich textures, yet it still feels wearable and modern.”

The pieces reflect Elleard Heffern’s dedication to providing high quality, unique items that stand apart from mass-produced jewelry. “There’s an effortless elegance to Elizabeth Locke pieces that feels very personal, almost like they’ve been collected over time—and some of them have,” Heffern adds. “That aligns beautifully with how we think about jewelry here—it should feel meaningful and be something you would want to pass down for many generations.”

Elleard Heffern will host a designer show for Elizabeth Locke on May 20 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. It will be a unique opportunity for guests to shop from one-of-a-kind pieces, rare intaglios and a wider variety of gemstones and designs than usually available. “A trunk show is always a special opportunity because it allows clients to experience the full breadth of the collection—far beyond what we typically carry in-store,” Heffern says. “It’s a chance to find something truly unique, whether it’s an everyday signature piece or a future heirloom. Events like this create a sense of discovery, and we’re excited to share that with both longtime clients and new visitors.”

The trunk show also will offer the rare opportunity to meet Elizabeth Locke in person. The afternoon will provide guests the chance to get deeper and more personal insights into the designs. “Clients love hearing the stories and inspiration behind the pieces directly from her,” Heffern says. “We’ll also have light bites and sips, so it’s meant to feel relaxed and inviting, not formal or rushed. It’s the perfect opportunity to spend some time, discover something beautiful and just enjoy the experience—on your own or with a friend.”
