The show now can go on rain or shine. The Webster Groves school recently installed a covered outdoor stage for concerts and performances. The stage, which features an accessibility ramp, was made possible by the Webster Groves School District Foundation; Trees, Forests and Landscapes design firm; Jost Greenhouses; and McKelvey Homes.

Kudos are due to Pierremont Elementary’s Katherine Park, who was named School Nurse of the Year by the Suburban St. Louis School Nurse Association. The award puts her in the running for Missouri School Nurse of the Year.

And congratulations to Parkway Northeast Middle School nurse Carolyn Kluttz, who received SLSA’s Rising Star Award. It recognizes a new school nurse who is considered an emerging leader in the field.

The school recently hosted the annual St. Louis World Food Day event as part of its commitment to raising awareness about global hunger issues. For the eighth year, Burroughs gathered volunteers to pack nutritious food for those in need. About 2,000 people met at the school’s field house to assemble rice, bean and soy protein meals for critically malnourished people in sub-Saharan Africa and fortified macaroni and cheese meals for St. Louisans in need. Each packet has a two-year shelf life and can feed up to six children.
