principia school | Last year, Principia freshmen lobbied the City of Maryland Heights to revise plans for a proposed large-scale development to safeguard the surrounding environment. Now, that work has taken root as Maryland Heights is implementing changes based on students’ research. The community has a proposed updated landscaping code, recommending reduced chemical use and more sustainable choices, including pollinator-friendly habitats, updated plant recommendations and designation as a “Bee City.”
rosati-kain academy
The school has welcomed Terry Murray as its new principal “I was drawn to Rosati-Kain because of the resilience of this community,” Murray says. “What this school has overcome in recent years, and the way students, families, alumnae and supporters have fought for its future, says so much about the heart of this place.” With more than 30 years of education experience, Murray has served in a variety of teaching, coaching and leadership roles at St. Louis University High, The Hockaday School in Dallas, Mary Institute and Saint Louis Country Day School and Visitation Academy.
reed elementary school
The elementary school celebrated the official opening of its new Book Vending Machine. Every Reed Elementary student will receive a custom golden token on their birthday, granting them access to the vending machine and the opportunity to select the brand-new book of their choice. Spearheaded by librarian Emily Gillett, the initiative represents the culmination of a three-year fundraising and planning effort.
kirkwood high school
Congrats to junior E.J. Evans for earning the rank of Eagle Scout! A member of Kirkwood Troop 981, he led the design, construction and installation of a new viewing area at the Kirkwood tennis courts in partnership with Kirkwood Parks and Recreation as his service project. Evans is also a member of the scouting national honor society, the Order of the Arrow.
