Heard in the Halls: 9.16.15

HALLS-WestminsterThis summer, 36 Westminster Christian Academy students spent more than a week immersed in the academic and cultural worlds of Salon de Provence, France, and Denia, Spain, during the school’s first study abroad program. Partnering with Christian schools in each area, students and teachers attended classes and took advantage of multiple sightseeing opportunities.



The Parkway North High School marching band recently returned from Hawaii, where members performed patriotic music at the USS Missouri Memorial and Pearl Harbor and during the King Kamehameha parade.

Parkway West senior Crystal Luo scored a 36, the highest possible score, on the ACT exam. Nationally, fewer than one-tenth of 1 percent of students who take the test earn this top score.

Second- and third-grade Chesterfield Day School students’ top regional picks for fun travel destinations in the Midwest were published in the July/August issue of AAA’s Midwest Traveler magazine. Students spent months researching, writing and presenting their ideas to AAA management for the sixth annual article, ‘Best in the Midwest.’

2015 Ladue Horton Watkins High School grad Yang Liu helped the U.S. team beat China to bring home the gold at the International Mathematical Olympiad held in Chiang Mai, Thailand. He was one of six students selected to be on the national team. This was Liu’s second year on the team, and both times he has won an individual gold medal.
