Summer is a wonderful time to enjoy social activities, spend time outdoors and stay engaged with loved ones, regardless of age. For seniors, it can be much easier to enjoy the season and all it has to offer when they know all their needs are anticipated and support is never more than a few steps away. The Gatesworth is dedicated to helping older adults make the most of their golden years. The senior living community offers a wide variety of wellness services and programs to keep its residents engaged, comfortable and independent.
The Gatesworth has a dedicated personal care team that offers supportive services. The team works closely with residents and their families to provide individualized care tailored to each person’s unique needs and preferences. “Sometimes extra support can make a meaningful difference in a resident’s daily routine,” director of personal care Christina Dodd explains. “The goal is never to take independence away, but rather to provide the right amount of support. At The Gatesworth, residents have opportunities to stay engaged and connected while continuing to enjoy the lifestyle and independence that are important to them. Our goal is to help residents thrive—not simply age in place, but truly enjoy life with comfort, dignity and purpose.”
At The Gatesworth, “wellness” goes beyond physical health. Dodd notes that it’s about creating an environment where residents can enjoy life to the fullest. This can include emotional well-being, social connection, safety and more. “We encourage residents to stay active by participating in activities they enjoy, attending meals regularly and getting outside safely when the weather allows,” she says. “Small daily habits such as drinking enough water, eating balanced meals, getting proper rest and staying connected socially can make a tremendous difference in maintaining energy levels and overall well-being.”
The success of The Gatesworth’s approach can be seen in the quality of life its residents enjoy. Morty Hyman came to The Gatesworth after first living at a different senior living community. He noticed the difference in service immediately. This included smaller things like menu requests being met by the chef to larger concerns like staff’s response to medical issues and other emergencies. “At The Gatesworth, they go one step further than anywhere else,” he notes. “The owners are often on-site, the executive director is wonderful, and staff offers support 24 hours a day.”
Hyman enjoys his time at The Gatesworth. From chatting with fellow residents at breakfast and enjoying a stroll around the grounds to fitness classes and lectures from a variety of experts, his days are full. He also takes advantage of the many excursions the community offers, whether it’s visits to the Saint Louis Art Museum or day trips to destinations like the National Churchill Museum in Fulton, Missouri. “You just cannot not be busy here,” he says. “It’s a fantastic place to live. The staff listens to suggestions and is prepared to help in any way possible—you’ll never hear a ‘no.’ I couldn’t be happier than I am at The Gatesworth.”
