Publisher Edward Gardner Lewis penned the first chapter of University City’s history back in 1902. He purchased 85 acres to create a residential district and new headquarters for his company and later served as the town’s first mayor. Known locally as U. City, the neighborhood is a favorite destination for food, drink, shopping and fun, most notably in The Loop district along Delmar Boulevard. More information is available at visittheloop.com.
