Here’s some interesting scoop on Clementine’s Creamery owner Tamara Keefe! The ice cream entrepreneur was chosen to join Goldman Sach’s 10,000 Small Businesses Program, which helps business owners access educational opportunities, work with mentors, create local jobs and spur economic growth. More than 7,300 U.S. business owners have graduated from the program.

Hometowner Joe Wagner has launched Harper School, a new private school and lower elementary school in Frontenac. Named after Harper Lee, author of To Kill a Mockingbird, it offers preschool and pre-kindergarten programs, plus afternoon extended care, with a focus on traditional academics and technology. Wagner also founded Stratford School in Silicon Valley, California.

The music of fifth-grader Jerry Chang, a piano student at Community Music School of Webster University, recently graced the airwaves on NPR’s From the Top program, which spotlights young classical musicians. He performed selections from Chopin and Mendelssohn and was interviewed by All Things Considered host Robert Siegel. Two best-selling Dutch authors will make a stop at The Novel Neighbor at 7 p.m. Oct. 11. Esther Gerritsen is the author of Craving, which has been made into a movie, and Jaap Robben is the author of You Have Me to Love. The visit is part of their North American tour of literary and film festivals.

Learn about social justice and activism Oct. 12 and 13 at Resist. Unite. Thrive., a ‘liberation-based healing conference’ at Saint Louis University’s Il Monastero event center. It’s open to health professionals, faith and community leaders, educators, students and others.

Terry Barber will sing selections from Andrew Lloyd Webber’s vast repertoire during two Oct. 13 performances at the Robert G. Reim Theatre. The show features violinist Amy Greenhalgh and cellist Stephanie Hunt and includes favorites from Cats, Evita, Jesus Christ Superstar and more.
