Town&Style

T&S Home: 6336 Alamo Ave.

from the homeowners » Owner Bryan Mauller says he bought this home in the Hi-Pointe neighborhood when he was single, and it continued to serve him well after he married and started a family. “I chose the house because it’s perfect for an active lifestyle,” he says. “Forest Park is practically in our backyard, and so much else is close by—coffee shops, restaurants, and nightlife in the Central West End, Clayton and Delmar Loop. My wife, Alexandra, and I love walking over to the zoo with our daughter in the early morning.”

Mauller says his family is moving to another part of St. Louis to be closer to relatives, and they’ll miss the close-knit neighborhood that has provided many conveniences and memorable moments. “The home’s location at Forest Park’s western border, walkability to DeMun Village and immaculate open floor plan make it very special,” says agent Jeffrey Warner.

what do you like best about the area?
We love the neighborhood because it holds a lot of great memories. We went on our first date and got engaged here, and we brought our daughter home to this house after she was born. We’ve also made some wonderful friendships with neighbors. There are lots of young families, and it’s a perfect environment to raise kids. The homes and streets are not too spread out, so it’s easy to make friends. The area really is conducive to a great, active lifestyle and a strong sense of community.

what do you find most appealing about the house?
My wife and I enjoy having guests over and cooking in the updated kitchen. The house is a perfect place to hang out with friends before and after a night on the town. Everyone ends up back here because it’s so comfortable and centrally located! The house features many recent updates, both mechanical and cosmetic; we wanted to make sure it was modern, accessible and functional, but also beautiful.

what are some other memories you’ve created in the home?
We told our relatives about our engagement here, and we’ve had friends and family over for a lot of great dinners and wine and cheese parties.

what part of the house do you spend time in the most?
My favorite room is the kitchen. It’s really open, which makes conversation easy while you’re cooking. There’s a bar where people can sit and visit. We always congregate in the kitchen when guests come over; it’s the heart of the home. The whole first floor is very open and makes entertaining easy.

what do you like best about the yard?
We have a new puppy, and the backyard is perfect for playing with pets. We have set up a hammock in the past, and the patio is a great space for relaxing and dining with family and guests. In the winter, we’ve even had neighborhood kids over to sled in the front yard.
