john burroughs school
Members of the Super Mileage Vehicle Club sped into sixth place at the Shell International Eco-Marathon Competition in Detroit, which challenges students to design, build and drive an energy-efficient car. Burroughs was the only school in Missouri selected to compete among 125 high schools and engineering colleges from seven countries.Halls-John-Burroughs

Jazz singer Erin Bode shared her stunning voice and words of wisdom with students at the end of the school year. The singer was joined by her husband, guitarist Syd Rodway, and cellist Tara Santiago, who spoke to students about their journeys as performers and their dedication to their craft as part of the school’s Fine Arts Day. Bode also took the stage to perform a few songs.

Jabari Hamilton-Banks, a recent eighth-grade graduate, received the Rosemary Zander Award from Special Education Foundation, in partnership with Special School District of St. Louis County (SSD), for his personal drive and exceptional character. Twenty SSD students received the award for their achievements in academics, arts, athletics, communications, vocational training, independent living skills and community service.

Forty-seven MICDS students received the President’s Volunteer Service Award, which, among other certificates and medallions, included a congratulatory letter from POTUS himself. The program recognizes commitment to community service and encourages individuals to embody the spirit of volunteerism. The MICDS award ceremony featured keynote speaker Adam Page, a member of the USA Hockey team that won gold in the 2010 and 2014 Paralympics. villa duchesne and oak hill school
The rigorous admissions standards for the United States Military Academy at West Point makes it unusual for two students from one school to be admitted in the same year. But this fall, Villa graduates Mary Clare Cassidy and Hannah Deines will enter the Academy. Cassidy plans to major in computer science and hopes to pursue a career in the U.S. Army Cyber Command. Deines, an all-state cross country and track athlete, signed to run with the West Point cross country team.

chesterfield day school
Sixth-graders finished the year with CDS Talks, modeled after TED Talks, researching ideas that have the power to change the world. In front of parents and community members, each sixth-grader presented on an important topic such as climate change, animal testing or health care.
