Colorado-based Rush Bowls has brought its healthy approach to fast-casual dining to 227 N. Euclid Ave. in the Central West End. It’s the first of at least three locations franchise owners Ken and Kim Moroney say they plan to open in the St. Louis area. Rush Bowls offers all-natural smoothies and 40 signature bowls made from fruits and vegetables, blended with protein and vitamins, and topped with organic granola and honey.

The Boulevard in Richmond Heights is expanding in more ways than one! In partnership with the Tower Grove Farmers Market, it will host a farmers market from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. the first Sunday of the month, May to September. The market will feature local farmers and other vendors from the region, such as Dang Good Produce, Honey Locust Hills (jams and jellies) and The Tamale Man.

Vero Pizza & Pasta (a meal delivery service created by Katie Collier of Katie’s Pizza and Pasta) has added Vero for 2 meal kits to accommodate smaller households in the St. Louis area. The company also recently began offering special holiday kits, first for Easter and now for Mother’s Day, and is featuring a limited-edition seasonal kit featuring morel mushrooms. All kits are available in two- and four-person servings.

Wellspent Brewing Co. has opened a new five-barrel brewery and tasting room at 2917 Olive St. A food program is planned, but currently, guests can nosh on bites from The Tamale Man, and food trucks like Balkan Treat and Pie Hard are known to visit on the weekends. House brews include a Belgian single malt and golden pale ale. Asian influenced The W Karaoke Lounge is open and rockin’ in The Loop. Featuring glam, contemporary interiors, it offers a public stage or private, soundproof rooms for those with a little less gusto. And since singing makes you hungry, you can chow down on its mix of sushi and bar fare all night long.
Bengelina Hospitality Group chef and owner Ben Poremba—who owns local hotspots Elaia, Olio, Parigi, Nixta and La Patisserie Chouquette—has just opened The Benevolent King at 7268 Manchester Road. The restaurant and cocktail bar, which serves traditional Moroccan fare, features a new menu each night with both snack-size plates and larger dishes. Tony Saputo, who has worked at Layla and Atomic Cowboy, manages the bar.
