Former St. Louis attorney Kevin O’Malley (pictured above) has friends at the White House. He was selected by President Obama as the new U.S. Ambassador to Ireland. O’Malley is nationally recognized for his work as a trial lawyer and legal scholar and was an officer in the litigation practice group of Greensfelder, Hemker & Gale. The law firm recently held an Irish farewell for O’Malley at the Missouri Botanical Garden, attended by local civic and business leaders.
Longtime society photographer Margaret Rambo is getting ready to hang up her camera bag, at least professionally. After 21 years of snapping photographs to spotlight just about every nonprofit fundraiser in town, she is retiring to enjoy more personal pursuits. Rambo, who was on the team of journalists that started Town&Style, has met and photographed such luminaries as Laura Bush, Martin Short, Hilary Clinton, Julie Andrews and President George H.W. Conversation is a powerful tool, and it’s what Mark Norwine of St. Charles and his son Eric used to raise awareness about mental illness and suicide prevention in their documentary, Walking Man. It debuted at the Tivoli Theatre during the recent St. Louis International Film Festival. The men, who both suffer from bipolar disorder, embarked on a two-week, 200-mile journey along Missouri’s Katy Trail to speak to students and government officials about Mark Norwine’s story of hope and redemption after his suicide attempt.
You can now add your name to the influential guest list of U.S. presidents, celebrities and St. Louis royalty who have visited the ‘Big House’ on the Busch family estate next to Grant’s Farm. The 32,000-square-foot manse is now available to the public as an event venue for the first time since it was built in 1913. The delectable menu was just one of the many highlights at the recent annual Chef of the Year awards gala for the American Culinary Federation Chefs de Cuisine Association of St. Louis. The organization named Rod Laurentius of Sunset Country Club 2015 Chef of the Year. Since 1965, the nonprofit, which is dedicated to furthering the education, certification and camaraderie of the local culinary community, honors one of its members with the coveted title.
