About:

Forsyth School is a leading independent, co-educational elementary school for children age 3 through Grade 6. Located next door to Washington University and across the street from Forest Park in the Wydown-Forsyth Historic District, Forsyth provides an unforgettable experience on a one-of-a-kind campus with classrooms in six repurposed, historic homes.

Forsyth is a place where personal best counts—in the classroom, on the field, on the stage, and on the high ropes course in the Adventure Center. Students are encouraged to stretch beyond their comfort zones with memory mapping, ballroom dancing, arthropod studies, Shakespeare performances, and more. The challenging and engaging curriculum fosters independence and prepares students to thrive in secondary school and beyond.

Mission & Philosophy:

The mission of Forsyth School is to provide children with a supportive atmosphere and opportunities for success in order that they may develop self-confidence and a love of learning.

We guide our students to cultivate their intelligence and grow their interests, abilities, and talents through the challenging and engaging curriculum and the development of good work habits. We model and nurture intellectual curiosity, creativity, enthusiasm, and persistence to support and encourage lifelong learning. And because knowledge without values is an empty pursuit, we emphasize Forsyth’s Honor Code throughout the curriculum and culture:

As a member of the Forsyth community, I will always be honest, kind, respectful, responsible, fair, and practice good sportsmanship. I will do my part to make Forsyth a special place.

Forsyth is committed to an equitable and just environment that respects diverse groups, family patterns, and perspectives so that our students feel known, valued, and empowered to develop their own authentic identities. Our active parent and family body helps us adapt to the changing needs of our families and students as we work toward these goals. This respect also extends to our planet. We teach our students the value of environmental sustainability because we believe that an understanding of our world determines how lightly we live on this earth.

At Forsyth School, our ultimate objective is to provide our students with an exceptional academic foundation and a healthy sense of balance so that they can face the challenges of the future as thoughtful and responsible citizens.

Parent’s Perspective:

Forsyth has been an incredible experience for our family. We have made lifelong connections and friendships throughout our time here. The challenging curriculum and individualized approach to learning have taught our girls that anything is possible when they put their minds to it and work hard.
