For KSDK’s Monica Adams, the fun begins early. As part of “Today in St. Louis,” her day begins well before your alarm goes off or the red camera light goes on, and she wouldn’t have it any other way. Her career as a seasoned veteran in TV and radio is just the tip of the iceberg—she doesn’t waste a minute when it comes to pursuing multiple ventures and having a good time.

You have done so many things in media. Where did it all start?
In 1993, I had an internship in sports for channel 3. I left there and ended up going into radio in Festus. I was there for two and a half years, and it’s really where I got my feet wet. From there, I went to a solo country music show in De Soto, Missouri, and then moved to WIL where I did news and sports.

You’ve covered just about every topic. What have you enjoyed the most?
I think more of the entertainment aspect. I loved doing morning radio at WIL. The team we had there just had natural chemistry, and I really enjoyed having the opportunity to interview so many different people like athletes, musicians and actors. I’ve always been drawn to the arts, so for me, there was just a natural connection. Now, I’m doing press junkets, so I’ve started that again.

What makes your current crew so much fun to work with?
I came to KSDK from a competing station and had never met most of the crew in person. Normally, when you put people who never really knew each other together, you have to find your way to some sort of chemistry. From the moment I walked in the door, it was like I had known these people my entire career. I love what we all bring as a team, but also as individuals.

Your latest venture is working with the folks at Bespoke.
When I was growing up, my mom was a seamstress, so I’ve always been around fashion. For as long as I’ve been on TV, the No. 1 question my family and friends and I get asked is “Where does Monica shop?” Beyond dressing well myself, I’ve always loved helping others find their true potential, especially men. I’ve always helped out the guys I’ve dated, my cousins and my friends’ husbands and boyfriends. I have too much creativity for what’s on the rack, so designing custom clothing is what I love.

What’s one style trend you’d like to bring back?
I love to be dressed up, even beyond what we wear on the air. I toe the line of trends, but I love the class of yesteryear. I would love to bring back the styles of the 1920s and ‘30s. At some point, it became OK to look like a slob, and I hate it.

What is your favorite travel destination?
We go to Cabo San Lucas every other year, but my dream vacation when I was little was Australia and New Zealand, which we did for our second anniversary.

What’s something that people are surprised to learn about Monica Adams?
When you turn on the TV, I can appear astute and authoritative, but if you truly know Monica, you know I’m a big kid at heart. I think that surprises a lot of people.
