St. Joseph’s Academy President:

President: Dr. Regina Mooney

Dr. Mooney is an exceptional leader who brings passion for Catholic education to this leadership role. She is a woman of deep Catholic faith who has a clear sense of what it takes to be an effective leader, especially in the context of a Catholic, single-gender institution. We were impressed by the breadth of experience Dr. Mooney has in all aspects of school business operations including strategic planning, admissions and enrollment, college counseling, institutional advancement and alumnae relations. She joins St. Joseph’s Academy devoted to our mission, core values and opportunities for growth.

Dr. Mooney comes to us with Masters’ degrees in Sacred Theology and Divinity from Yale University and a Doctorate of Philosophy from Claremont University. Her experience has taken her from teaching at Harvey Mudd College to Dean of Students at Mount Holyoke College. She continued to advance to a Vice-President position at Reed College. She then shared her gifts in development at the high school level. She is currently serving as Director of Institutional Advancement at Forest Ridge School of the Sacred Heart, an all-girls middle and high school that is part of the global Sacred Heart Network, located in Bellevue, Washington.

Mission:

St. Joseph’s Academy is a private, Catholic high school for girls in St. Louis, Missouri, sponsored by the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet. Our mission is to provide quality Catholic education for young women in an environment that challenges them to grow in faith, knowledge, and respect for self and others. Our community expects these young women to make a profound impact in the world.

Academic Overview:

St. Joseph’s Academy is a college preparatory high school whose rigorous curriculum of more than 140 courses focuses on developing women leaders. Each year between 99 and 100 percent of St. Joseph’s Academy graduates go on to college to pursue every variety of profession, vocation, and avocation, and in 2015, 79 percent of those graduates received a scholarship.

Students are grounded in a curriculum that meets all state and college requirements. Students also take a minimum of an additional four and a half credits in electives to meet graduation requirements, selecting from a plethora of choices that are both exciting and challenging and that provide her the opportunity to pursue her particular passions, whether they be Forensic Science, Yoga, Honors Art Portfolio, Robotics, or working on the school newspaper—preparing her to make a profound impact in the world. Holding our students to high standards is key to our success.

All departments (with the exception of physical education) offer honors courses. Additionally, students can earn college credit through Advanced Placement (AP) and Advanced College Credit (ACC) courses, the latter primarily through St. Louis University.

At St. Joseph’s Academy, we have been experts in Catholic Education for 175 years.

Parent’s Perspective:

“St. Joe has developed both of our daughters, Joanie (’13) and Julia (’17), into young women who feel prepared and equipped to lead and excel in college and beyond. Its balanced approach to education has allowed our girls to grow their unique strengths both in and outside the classroom.”  —The Garlich Family
