We will have the chance to see Adam Wainwright in a whole new light, come September: on the big screen! The St. Louis Cardinals player appears in a locally produced indie film, Proximity, released in Wehrenberg Theatres Labor Day weekend. Writer-director Dan Steadman has only kudos for the pitcher. “He’s so naturally funny, and he had pages and pages of dialogue, but he handled it like a pro. He was such a good sport, no pun intended!” Pictured, above: Adam Wainwright with his family and producer Rodney Wilson, left, and director Dan Steadman, right.
Crown Center has a lot to celebrate these days. For one thing, the affordable housing complex for seniors has turned 50 this year. Then resident Edie Sobel was featured in the national magazine LeadingAge. Seeing a call for submissions about engaged seniors, the Crown Center folks submitted her story, and it was included with a handful of others from around the country. Pictured: Edie Sobel with daughter Susan Tenzer and great-granddaughter Maya Tenzer.
Two St. Louis women have collaborated on a book about death, dating and divorce titled, Suddenly Single After 50: The Girlfriends’ Guide to Navigating Loss, Restoring Hope, and Rebuilding Your Life. Authors Meg Crane and Barbara Ballinger (formerly of St. Louis)—one widowed, the other divorced—deal with the challenges and opportunities of this new reality. The book is available at Left Bank Books.
Congratulations to hometowner Cynthia Ann Fleck, who recently was named Mrs. Missouri. The Chesterfield resident is a dermatology nurse who has lectured globally about diabetic foot care, which is her platform for the pageant. Good luck to her as she advances to the national contest later this summer in Reno, Nevada!
