I enjoyed this film, although I can’t say it was anything other than a war love story. The filming was beautiful, set in WWII Morocco and Hempstead, England. You very much got the ‘period piece’ ambience. Brad Pitt was excellent as Allied airman and spy Max Vatan. Marion Cotillard was similarly engaging as his co-conspirator and wife Marianne Beausejour. The tension and drama in the first part of the movie revolves around their collaboration to destroy a Nazi target; in the second half, it moves to the devastating notion that Beausejour may not be who she says she is. Both themes are engrossing, which salvages the film from being just another typical love story. If you enjoy war movies, it’s a good one to add to your list.

Should You See It? Yes, it’s a beautiful movie with engaging actors.
